How Long Does a Nanny Search Take?
The length of a nanny search varies based on family needs, candidate availability, and the hiring process. On average, it takes 4 to 8 weeks to find the right nanny, but this can be shorter or longer depending on circumstances.
- Defining Needs (1–2 Weeks)
Families must determine the nanny’s role, schedule, experience level, and any special requirements. - Job Posting & Applications (1–4 Weeks)
Posting the job and receiving applications can take time, especially during high-demand seasons. - Screening & Interviews
Reviewing resumes, conducting phone/video screenings, and in-person interviews help shortlist candidates. - Trial Period (1-2 Weeks)
A short trial helps assess compatibility with the family and children. - Background Checks & References (1–2 Weeks)
Conducting background checks, verifying references, and ensuring legal requirements are met. - Final Decision & Contract
Negotiating salary, benefits, and terms of employment before finalising the hire.
A fast hire can take 2–4 weeks, while highly specific searches may take 8+ weeks. Working with an agency can streamline the process and ensure a quality match.
We’re happy to offer free face-to-face nanny interviews for all families. Please note, however, that families are responsible for covering the cost of the nanny trials. We encourage families and nannies to discuss and agree on the hourly rate and hiring terms directly, ensuring a fair arrangement for both parties.
